The UP TET (Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test) is a state-level exam conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in primary and upper primary schools in Uttar Pradesh, India.

The exam is conducted in two papers – Paper 1 for candidates who want to teach classes 1 to 5, and Paper 2 for candidates who want to teach classes 6 to 8. Candidates can also appear for both papers if they are eligible. The UP TET exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and there is no negative marking.
The syllabus for Paper 1 includes child development and pedagogy, language I (Hindi), language II (English/Urdu/Sanskrit), mathematics, and environmental studies. The syllabus for Paper 2 includes child development and pedagogy, language I (Hindi), language II (English/Urdu/Sanskrit), mathematics and science, and social studies.
To be eligible for the exam, candidates must have a minimum educational qualification of a Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed) or a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). The UP TET exam is usually conducted once a year, and candidates who clear the exam can apply for teaching positions in government-run primary and upper primary schools in Uttar Pradesh.
